District paraprofessionals become apprentices with the goal of completing an Education Preparation Program that leads to a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate. This Program is a long-term solution for recruitment and retention of certified educators since the teacher shortage is impacting our district. It provides opportunities for a cohesive and collaborative effort between mentors and apprentices. Strong teachers and instructional facilitators work to mentor apprentices with on-the-job training in their classrooms. The apprentice completes 2,000-6,000 hours of on-the-job training to demonstrate mastery of the 28 required competencies.
Develop, plan, implement curriculum, lesson plans & educational programs for students. Present and reinforce learning concepts within specific subject or subject area. Answer student inquiries. Resolve problems related to curriculum. Prepare appropriate documentation and reports on programs and student progress.
