The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) has been awarded a $2 million RESTART grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to help adults who have been involved in the justice system prepare for and connect with careers in Wyoming’s in-demand industries. Participant enrollment begins in January 2027.
RESTART will focus on employment opportunities in growing Wyoming industries, including artificial intelligence infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, heavy construction and transportation—helping employers develop skilled workers while giving participants a pathway to lasting careers.
Wyoming employers can be part of the effort while building their own workforce. Businesses hiring RESTART participants may have access to wage subsidies, the Federal Bonding Program and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, as well as opportunities to provide paid on-the-job training.
A component of the RESTART grant is promoting Registered Apprenticeship as an employment pathway for participants. Registered Apprenticeship can be an effective way for employers to support RESTART participants by combining paid employment with structured, work-based training and career advancement. Employers can use apprenticeship as a pathway to build skills for hard-to-fill positions while helping participants gain industry-recognized experience and credentials.
